Viticulture
Roero Riserva "Mompissano" from Cascina Ca'Rossa is made in Canale d'Alba, where the grapes are exposed in the south-west area at a 300-350m hight. The grapes are hand-harvested in the middle of October. The grapes must be aged in wood due to the grape.
Winemaking
Firstly, the wine is aged in big Slovenian oak barrels and thereafter left for some months in the bottle.
Tasting Note
The nose on this intensely garnet-coloured wine is wide, complex and dynamic. Ripe fruity notes can be found along with a good structure. The fragrance opens progressively due to the acidity and alcohol content. The aftertaste is long and persistent with soft tannins.
Mompissano pairs well with roasts, boiled or braised meat and aged cheeses.
