2016 Barolo Vignarionda DOCG
"Don't miss this wine (...)These results are nothing short of excellent." - Robert Parker
18-24 months of ageing in botti (big barrels)
20 months of rest in bottle
The grapes are harvested by hand and placed into small plastic baskets and brought to the winery.
The grapes are crushed but not destemmed and placed in vertical stainless-steel tanks to undergo alcoholic fermentation. Fermentation takes place with a maceration on the skins for around 30/40 days during which several daliy pumpers takes place.
The Barolo Vignarionda represents the stereotype of Barolo from Serralunga; full, rich, dense but thanks to the slight percentage og sand in the soil, the aromas and fineness are practically unique.
Pairs well with delicately cooked meat dishes filled pasta and cheeses, just like other nebbiolo-based wines
Don't miss this wine. From a celebrated site in Serralunga d'Alba, the Ettore Germano 2016 Barolo Vignarionda is a relatively new entry. In fact, this release of about 2,700 bottles is the second vintage produced. These results are nothing short of excellent. This wine is focused and sharp, with an exacting quality of fruit that recalls redcurrant and wild plum. Drying mineral notes with iron ore, baked clay and smoky licorice are folded within the wine's silky tight texture.
WE 99/100 (09012021)
Enticing aromas of rose, iris, wild berry and spice appear in this gorgeous red. Combining structure and finesse, the delicious palate delivers ripe raspberry, Marasca cherry, star anise and pipe tobacco set against a backbone of firm, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it impeccably balanced while a tangy mineral note lingers on the finish. While it's still quite young, it already shows class, pedigree and excellent aging potential. Drink 2026–2046.
